Co-created by the American Academy of Pediatrics and American Heart Association, this program covers the NRP algorithm, the use of pulse oximetry, and more, and emphasizes a hands-on, interactive simulation-based learning environment.  The program is intended for healthcare providers who participate in neonatal resuscitation in the delivery room and newborn nursery.

Prior to attending the classroom skills session, students must go online and complete the didactic learning portion of the course, with the written exam.  After completion of the online course, students register for a classroom skills session.

The NRP 3 – 4-hour instructor-led classroom skills session covers: The principles of resuscitation; the initial steps of resuscitation; use of resuscitation devices for positive-pressure ventilation; chest compressions; endotracheal intubation and laryngeal mask airway insertion; medications; special considerations; resuscitation of babies born preterm; and ethics and care at the end of life.  Upon successful course completion, students receive a digital NRP Provider certification card through AAP, valid for two years.
